We invite
you to join us for
The 1st International Conference on Tropical Agroforestry in Indonesia, to be held in the city of Malang, East Java, from 29-31 August 2023. The volcanic mountains of East Java, part of the global ring of fire, interact with coastal zone lowlands, ecologically, socially and economically. Forests, trees and agroforestry are part of that relationship and its dynamics, giving new meaning to old debates, urging for new solutions that match the multiple goals in the 21st century.
The meeting, hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture of Brawijaya University will connect four themes of current agroforestry research and development:
Negotiation support for landscape multifunctionality and water security
Resilience to shocks of volcanic activity, climate change, COVID-19 and changing market demand
Food security and human health
Transforming landscapes from delivery of products to a service-based economy, adapting education processes
For each theme two invited speakers, from an International and Indonesian perspective, will set the scene. We invite proposals for voluntary contributions (oral or poster-based). In a fieldtrip we will showcase how these four themes interact in the mountain landscape around Malang, transforming livelihood options and challenges.
